The Bulls Are Left With Only A Stem And No Rose

The original plans for the Chicago Bulls this season are long gone. No Derick Rose and a traded Loul Deng makes for lots of holes. This team had aspirations to make an NBA Finals appearance and now are looking to reach .500.

Honestly, if everything fell the Bulls way, they MIGHT have made it to the championship. That is having Rose play like an MVP. Deng, Carlos Boozer and Joakim Noah all being All-Stars and lots of help from Taj Gibson and Mike Dunleavy. Not to mention Jimmy Butler being breakout player of the year. If you haven't noticed, NONE of these thing have happened.

Looking at the situation this team is in now, to me, it is fire sale time. If it is possible to unload veterans like Kirk Hinrich, Dunleavy and Boozer, do it. Looking at this roster, there should be no one that is an'untouchable'. That being said, I also feel that this team shouldn't intentionally lose games. This is a time to have rookies Tony Snell and Erick Murphy log heavy minutes. Let Marquis Teague struggle while trying to run the point. It looks like either way this team will make the playoffs, so why not try and develop some young guns?

It is a shame that the Bulls find themselves in such a struggle with such a weak Eastern Conference (four teams with winning records). It would have been nice to cruise through the regular season and be ready to take on the Miami Heat come playoff time. Once again, not going happen.

It is sad to say but this season might as well be over. The Bulls will make the playoffs as the six or seven seed and get bounced by the Heat or the Atlanta Hawks. I would like to see this team stripped down to the studs and build around a big name free-agent. As much as I love Rose, treat him as a wild card and build something that won't fail if his knee does.

It stinks to see this franchise take some major steps back after being so close to the promised land. This championship window has closed. It is time to start opening another window with some fresh faces.
